Former Chelsea and Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba has stepped forward to defend his long-time mentor, Jose Mourinho, following recent allegations labeling the Portuguese manager as a racist.
Taking to social media, Drogba addressed Galatasaray fans directly, expressing his unwavering support for Mourinho while urging supporters to focus on the club’s pursuit of another league title.

“You all know how proud I was to wear the yellow and red jersey and my love for the most decorated club in Turkey! Passion and heated rivalries are part of football—I’ve been lucky enough to experience that firsthand,” Drogba wrote.
Responding to criticism surrounding Mourinho, Drogba dismissed the allegations, stating, “Trust me when I tell you, I have known Jose for 25 years, and he is not a racist. His history, both past and recent, is there to prove it.”
The Ivorian legend, who famously played under Mourinho at Chelsea, emphasized the need for unity among Galatasaray fans, calling on them to support the team in their quest for their fifth star.
“How can my ‘Dad’ be a racist? Let’s focus on our games, support our brilliant lions, and win the league!” he added.
Drogba’s statement comes at a crucial time, as Mourinho continues to make headlines for his coaching and outspoken personality. With Galatasaray locked in a tight title race, the club’s supporters now have a rallying call from one of their greatest-ever players.
