Neymar Jr, the Brazilian football legend, shared that he was the one who taught Lionel Messi how to take penalty kicks.
During their time at Barcelona, Neymar provided Messi with a lesson on spot kicks during training sessions.
The two superstars also played together at Paris Saint-Germain. He disclosed this information on the Podpah podcast, mentioning that Messi had approached him for guidance on penalty kicks during a practice session.
Known for his technical expertise and calm demeanor when taking penalties, he was taken aback by Messi’s request for advice in this area.
“I was like, ‘Are you crazy? You’re Messi! If I can do it, you can too,’” Neymar said.
Neymar said he took the time to teach his teammate, and Messi practiced based on his advice.
Neymar’s insight shows that even the greatest players continue learning and refining their skills.
“I helped Messi take penalties! We were in training, he asked me…’How do you take penalties like that?’
“I was like: Are you crazy? You’re Messi if I can do it, you can too. Then I taught him and he trained”, Neymar told Podpah.
