Mudashiru Obasa, the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA), has declared that he has a closer relationship with President Bola Tinubu than his accusers and fellow members of the State legislative body.
He claimed to have been a loyalist of Tinubu since his days in secondary school and provided photographic evidence of their long-standing friendly relationship.
Obasa revealed this on the program ‘Politics Today’ on Channels Television, while addressing questions about the ongoing crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Earlier in the week, Obasa had entered the Assembly with his security team and presided over a ‘plenary’ attended by only four lawmakers, leading to further confusion and escalating the crisis.
Obasa, when asked whether he has Tinubu’s backing in the crisis said, “I have been following this man since I just left secondary school. I have pictures to prove this. During SDP I contested for delegate.
“Since then I have always been one of his disciples and I will not change tomorrow. I have always been a loyalist. If they are just realizing that now, then they have not been part of us from the genesis.”
On the alleged misunderstanding with Governor Sanwo-Olu, the embattled Speaker said that he had been working with the governor smoothly.
