Nollywood actress and producer Iyabo Ojo has responded strongly to Naira Marley after the singer shared their old private conversations online.
Earlier today, social media went into a frenzy when screenshots of Iyabo Ojo’s direct messages (DMs) with Naira Marley surfaced, contradicting claims that she had no prior relationship with him.
In response, Iyabo Ojo released additional screenshots, clarifying that her interactions with Naira Marley were solely professional. She emphasized that she promotes various artists and loves supporting upcoming talents.
Iyabo Ojo’s Clarification
The actress explained that she first connected with Naira Marley in 2020, when he reached out through her son, Festus Ojo, to request a promotion for his song.
“As a TikTok sensation, I’ve promoted various artists’ songs, including Naira Marley’s. In 2020, I promoted his song after his team contacted me through my son Festus.”
She further stated that she had invited Naira Marley to her movie premiere and mother’s burial, reinforcing that their interaction was strictly professional.
Her Stance on Mohbad’s Case
Iyabo Ojo made it clear that her conflict with Naira Marley stemmed from his failure to protect Mohbad when videos surfaced showing his friend Sam Larry allegedly bullying the late artist.
“When disturbing videos and petitions alleged that Sam Larry, Naira Marley’s friend, bullied Mohbad, I questioned Naira Marley’s inaction. I never accused him of killing Mohbad, but the evidence suggests Mohbad’s life was threatened.”
She also revealed that more disturbing allegations against Naira Marley have come to her attention, which could potentially be addressed in court.
“I’ve been made aware of allegations regarding Naira Marley’s involvement in other disturbing incidents, which will be addressed in court if necessary.”
Iyabo Ojo Stands Her Ground
The actress reaffirmed her commitment to seeking justice for Mohbad, regardless of her past interactions with Naira Marley.
“I won’t turn a blind eye to injustice, even if it involves someone I’m close to. Naira Marley, you were mistaken if you thought I’d stay silent.”
Upcoming Movie Announcement
Amidst the controversy, Iyabo Ojo also used the opportunity to announce her upcoming film, Labake Olododo, which is set to hit cinemas on March 28, 2025.
