Nigerian-born businessman Simon Guobadia, best known for his marriage to American reality TV star Porsha Williams, has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over longstanding immigration violations.
Simon Guobadia Held at Stewart Detention Center
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the 60-year-old businessman is currently being held at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.
Reports reveal that Guobadia, who first arrived in the United States in 1982, overstayed his visa and was issued a deportation order in 1985. His immigration history includes:
- Deportation to Nigeria in 1992 after multiple financial crime arrests, including bank and credit card fraud.
- Illegal re-entry into the U.S. a month after being deported.
- Failed attempts to obtain U.S. citizenship in 2016 due to past immigration violations.
His detention comes amid increased deportation efforts under the current U.S. administration.
Legal and Marital Woes Intensify
Guobadia’s detention coincides with his ongoing divorce battle with Porsha Williams. The couple, who married in November 2022, separated in February 2024, just 15 months after their wedding.
Recent court rulings granted Williams:
✅ Temporary sole possession of their marital home
✅ Full rights to film content on the property
Reacting to the news, Williams, 43, shared her thoughts on Instagram:
“It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome. At this moment, my priority is moving forward with my family. 🙏🏾”
Guobadia’s History of Legal Challenges
Despite celebrating 42 years of living in America in February 2024, Guobadia’s legal troubles have continued to mount. He previously shared on Instagram:
“Happy Tuesday to all who ever overcame and persevered in life. You are winning👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 #42yearsLivinginAmerica.”
Guobadia has been married three times, including to former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Falynn Guobadia, before marrying Porsha Williams.
As his legal and immigration battles unfold, the future remains uncertain for the embattled businessman.
