In a recent interview on the Creativitea Live with Linda podcast, popular Nigerian fashion designer and influencer Veekee James addressed criticism about how much of her marriage she showcases on social media.
Contrary to the belief that keeping a relationship private is the key to success, Veekee James defended her choice to share moments from her marriage with her followers. She argued that the online content only provides a glimpse into their real life and should not be taken as the whole truth.
Despite facing backlash from some netizens who believe she overshared, Veekee James remains steadfast in her belief that privacy does not determine the longevity of a relationship. She emphasized that public relationships are not automatically doomed to fail.
It is interesting to note that Veekee James has previously opened up about the end of her first relationship, despite her efforts to invest in it.
“At first, when we started getting backlash on social media, people kept telling me to keep my husband off the internet because he is a quiet man. Some even said that private marriages last longer. However, I’ve seen marriages that were kept off social media and didn’t even last a month. I’ve seen things people hid that didn’t last,” she said.
