Mr Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has stirred controversy by expressing his disapproval of his son purchasing land in his name.
In a TikTok live session on February 26, 2025, Mr Aloba openly questioned his late son’s decision, sparking backlash on social media. Critics accused him of prioritizing personal interests over honoring his son’s wishes, reflecting a larger issue of entitlement among some African parents.
In his words:
“When he came back from tour, Mohbad told me he had bought two plots of land at Elepe in Liam’s name and I don’t know why. As a father, I never bought anything and put Mohbad’s name on it in my life, so why will he buy something in Liam’s name but they bought that two plots of land in Liam’s name.”
Mohbad’s family has been embroiled in controversies since his passing, including inheritance disputes and allegations of foul play.
