Barcelona have secured their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals with a 4-1 aggregate victory over Benfica, following a dominant second-leg performance at the Estadi OlÃmpic.
Raphinha, who netted the only goal in the first leg, opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finishing off a brilliant assist from Lamine Yamal.
However, Benfica responded swiftly as Nicolás Otamendi equalized just two minutes later, giving the visitors hope.
Barcelona quickly regained control, with Yamal showcasing his brilliance, dribbling past two defenders before curling a stunning shot into the far corner. The 17-year-old continues to cement his status as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
Just before halftime, Raphinha doubled his tally, finishing off a swift move initiated by Alejandro Balde. Though the goal was initially ruled out for offside, VAR overturned the decision, confirming Barcelona’s 3-1 lead on the night.
The second half was largely uneventful, with Hansi Flick’s side comfortably seeing out the game to book their place in the next round.
Barcelona will now await their quarter-final opponent, either Lille or Borussia Dortmund, who play their second leg on Wednesday.
