The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has granted approval for Max Air to resume its domestic flight operations following a successful economic and safety audit. Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NCAA, confirmed this in a statement released on Monday.

Max Air had voluntarily suspended its domestic operations for 90 days on January 29, 2025, after experiencing a series of incidents on its flights. This decision was supported by the NCAA.

During the suspension period, the NCAA conducted a thorough safety and economic audit of the airline, as mentioned by Achimugu. The safety audit, which took place from February 26th to 28th in 2025, included a comprehensive re-inspection of Max Air’s organization, procedures, personnel, and aircraft in compliance with Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.

He reiterated that the NCAA would continue to monitor the airline closely through an enhanced surveillance program to ensure strict compliance with its regulations.
