Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State confidently expressed his belief that he has no strong opponent as he prepares for re-election in the governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
He emphasized that the people of Anambra State have shown consensus in their support for his party, APGA, due to the delivery of development and democracy dividends.
Speaking during a media chat to mark his third anniversary in office, Soludo highlighted the loyalty of the people of Anambra to APGA in local elections, while noting that they may support different parties in national elections.
“If there is an election, I mean there will be an election, and if I am the candidate, I will be on the ballot, and then I ask: who else is running? Which party is fielding a candidate?
“So far, unless the person will come down from somewhere but so far, I have not heard of any,” Soludo said.
The former CBN governor mentioned receiving calls urging him to seek a second term, but clarified that the party will ultimately decide on the choice of its flag bearer.
It is worth noting that the governorship election in Anambra is one of the few held off-season due to legal disputes, along with Bayelsa.
