BREAKING: Tinubu declares state of emergency in Rivers, suspends Fubara for six months

President Bola Tinubu, in a formal address on Tuesday evening, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State.

Tinubu stated this declaration during a nationwide broadcast directed to the citizenry.

The president expressed his profound concern regarding the prevailing political turmoil within the state and attributed the demolition of the State House of Assembly building to Governor Siminilayi Fubara.

Following a comprehensive assessment of the circumstances, Tinubu announced his resolution to “declare a state of emergency commencing from March 18.”

This resolution was made mere hours subsequent to Tinubu’s conference with his military leaders and the Inspector-General of Police at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

The meeting, which commenced at approximately 3 PM, also included the presence of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.

Additionally, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, along with the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, also made their entrance at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa.
