Will Smith gets street renamed after him in West Philadelphia

Will Smith

Will Smith has immortalized a classic lyric by having a street named after him in his hometown of West Philadelphia.

The unveiling of ‘Will Smith Way’ on North 59th Street near Overbrook High School, where he attended, coincides with the release of his fifth studio album ‘Based on a True Story’.

Addressing the crowd at the presentation ceremony, Smith gushed:

“Philly, I love you. I am yours. You are mine.”

This album marks his return to music after a twenty-year hiatus and features collaborations with artists such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, Teyana Taylor, and Big Sean.

Smith has also announced his first headlining tour in years, starting this summer. This tribute and milestone in his career symbolize his journey from West Philly streets to global success in the most meaningful way.
