The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday.
This was announced on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended warm Easter greetings to all Christians across the nation, urging them to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice, and redemption symbolized by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He further called on Nigerians to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country, encouraging all citizens to embrace national harmony and brotherhood during this reflective season.
“Let this Easter be a time to reaffirm our faith in our nation and to show love and compassion to one another,” the minister stated.
The Easter holiday is widely celebrated in Nigeria, and the public holidays will allow Christians to fully observe the solemn and joyous events of the season.
