Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a fresh lawsuit against suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of mocking him in a satirical apology she posted on social media.
The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja and dated May 7, 2025, is marked CS/384/25.
Akpabio is demanding that Senator Natasha delete the post across all her social media platforms, publish a written apology in at least two national newspapers, and submit an affidavit of compliance confirming she has met these conditions.
The controversial post, shared by Natasha on April 27 via Facebook, sarcastically addressed Akpabio in a theatrical tone:
“Dear Distinguished Senate President Godswill Akpabio, It is with the deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret that I tender this apology for the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect in your most exalted presence…”
The lengthy statement made biting remarks about power dynamics in the Senate, with veiled accusations of inappropriate requests and unearned influence.
She concluded by sarcastically “apologizing” for prioritizing “competence over capitulation” and believing that her Senate seat was “earned through elections, not erections.”
Akpabio’s legal team, led by Kehinde Ogunwumiju, argues that the post violated a standing court order issued on April 4.
The order barred both parties from making public statements concerning the ongoing sexual harassment case until its conclusion.
The case adds yet another layer to the political and legal drama unfolding between the two lawmakers and highlights the growing tension surrounding gender, power, and public accountability in Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber.
