All members of the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the House of Representatives have officially switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced their defection during a plenary session on Tuesday.
This move follows the defections of former Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa and current Governor Sheriff Oborevwori from the PDP to the APC at a stakeholders meeting in Asaba.
In response to these defections, Ikenga Ugochinyere, a House of Representatives member from Ideato Federal constituency in Imo State, revealed that two more state governors and 40 lawmakers from the PDP are set to follow suit.
Despite these shifts, former Senate President Bukola Saraki remains optimistic about the party’s future, stating that the party will be repositioned despite the departures.
Saraki emphasized that those who wish to defect are free to do so, but the party will continue to strive forward.
