Diddy may be embroiled in a federal trial where his freedom is at stake, but he’s actively monitoring the numerous lawsuits filed against him.
One such case involves former Danity Kane member, Dawn Richard.
As previously noted, the singer has made serious allegations against the music mogul, including sexual abuse, threats to her life, and physical violence.
Following her recent testimony in Diddy’s criminal trial, he has now responded to her claims through the civil courts.
According to TMZ, Diddy is seeking to have Richard’s lawsuit dismissed.
The grounds for this request are varied.
In legal documents submitted on Friday (May 16), Diddy’s attorneys argue that the case should be thrown out due to reasons such as the statute of limitations, improper group pleadings, among others.
Additionally, they assert that Richard is attempting to tie her claims to the ongoing scandals surrounding Diddy in hopes of securing financial compensation.
Notably, the date of this filing coincides with Richard’s appearance in court to testify in the criminal case.
A spokesperson for the music mogul states that Richard “seeks to transform narratives of alleged injuries against others into a headline-grabbing sex trafficking conspiracy as to her.”
Having testified after Cassie, Richard is expected to continue her testimony on Monday (May 19).
