Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi has come out of an induced coma, according to Mail Sporty.
The 27-year-old underwent emergency surgery for a serious abdominal injury that could have been life-threatening.
Awoniyi is now in recovery after the completion of a complex operation. Fans and pundits had expressed concern for his well-being and sent their prayers.
Awoniyi is currently under monitoring in the hospital, surrounded by his family. The striker had collided with the post during a match against Leicester City and continued playing before being substituted.
Despite the limited substitutions available, Awoniyi was eventually taken off the field.
