The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has summoned Air Peace Limited due to repeated flight delays and cancellations that are causing inconvenience to passengers.
In a statement released on Friday by the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the authority voiced concern over the airline’s ongoing operational difficulties and emphasized the urgency of addressing them.
This development followed a meeting at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja, where the Director General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, met with top executives of Air Peace.
During the meeting, Captain Najomo urged the airline to scale down its operations to match the number of functional aircraft in its fleet in order to minimize disruptions and restore public trust.
“The NCAA has received several complaints of chronic flight cancellations and delays, and this must be addressed without delay.
“NCAA will continue to support the airlines, the operators must comply with the regulations and global best practices,” the DGCA said.
He also announced that the NCAA is increasing surveillance on all Nigerian airlines to ensure compliance with scheduled operations and regulatory standards.
According to Achimugu, Air Peace representatives admitted to experiencing operational issues, noting that such challenges are common in the aviation sector. However, the airline assured the authority of its ongoing efforts to address the situation and improve its services.
Captain Najomo reaffirmed the NCAA’s firm stance against inefficiency and warned that any airline failing to meet regulatory requirements will face appropriate penalties.
