The Football Kenya Federation, FKF, has officially announced the demotion of Kenyan club, Muhoroni Youth, following their involvement in match-fixing as confirmed by FIFA.
This adds to a long history of corruption scandals in football in the East African nation.
On Friday, FIFA announced that it had found Muhoroni Youth “guilty of activities related to the manipulation of football matches and competitions”.
In response, the World Organization has removed the club’s senior team from the FKF’s National Super League and mandated their participation in the Division One League for the upcoming season.
The FKF, in response, said it “fully supports FIFA’s decision”.
FKF also reiterated “its zero-tolerance stance on match-fixing and all forms of manipulation that threaten the integrity of the game”.
