Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho has addressed rumors about potentially becoming the manager of the Portugal national team this summer.
Mourinho stated that he informed Fenerbahce about the situation and clarified that he did not accept any offer or engage in talks because of his loyalty.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United coach has been linked to the Portugal national team job in the past, but he has made it clear that he is committed to Fenerbahce.
He made the clarification during a press conference following Fenerbahce’s 2-1 victory over Eyupspor on Sunday.
“Yes, I can deny that I had any meeting with the Portuguese Football Federation. I’m a loyal person,” Mourinho said.
“The only time I had direct contact with a club, I informed Fenerbahce. It was not now, it was in January.
“I had a meeting with a club. I did not accept the offer.”
