The Professional Footballers Association (PFA) is advocating for a rule change after Nottingham Forest player Taiwo Awoniyi sustained a serious injury during a match.
Awoniyi was placed in an induced coma after colliding with a post in a game against Leicester City.
The incident occurred due to a delayed offside call by assistant referee Sian Massey-Ellis.
The PFA, in contact with his family, is pushing for play to be stopped immediately when a clear offside is evident to prevent future injuries.
Discussions will be held with PGMOL and IFAB to address this issue and ensure player safety.
