Suspended Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has emphasized that he is not eager to be reinstated to his position.
Fubara made this statement during the service of songs held in memory of late elder statesman, Edwin Clark, in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
He urged attendees to focus on honoring Clark’s selfless advocacy for the Niger Delta region, rather than turning the event into a political affair.
“Can’t you see how better I look? Do you think I am interested in it?
“Do you even know if I want to go back there? My spirit had already left that place long ago,” he said.
Fubara is believed to have been responding to several speakers at the event, who referred to him as “Governor” and called for immediate reversal.
“Not everything is by Oshogbe, I want everybody to focus, there are some fights you don’t fight,” he said.
Following President Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency, Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly were suspended. Tinubu then appointed retired naval chief Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator of the state.
