Miley Cyrus has opened up about how she handled a distressing health issue.
The incident occurred while she was co-hosting Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party with Dolly Parton.
“I had a pretty traumatic experience when I was doing my New Year’s show,” the singer revealed during Wednesday’s episode of The Zane Lowe Show.
“I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture. We didn’t know exactly what was going on.”
The Flowers singer continued, “It was pretty traumatic because it was extremely excruciating, and I did the show anyway. But it was really, really hard on me.”
Miley Cyrus had teamed up with her godmother, Dolly Parton, to host NBC’s New Year’s Eve broadcast to welcome 2023.
She shared that the experience made her consider stepping away from her music career. However, she remembered a conversation with Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, who co-executive produced the special with Parton.
“I had dinner with Lorne and he said something that now has stuck with me,” Miley Cyrus said. “He goes, ‘Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild.'”
Having recovered, Miley Cyrus is now preparing for the release of her new album, Something Beautiful, which is expected to drop later this month.
