Former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Ange Postecoglou, has released a heartfelt statement following his dismissal from the Premier League club.
The 59-year-old coach was relieved of his duties on Friday evening, with Tottenham issuing a brief message thanking him and wishing him success in future endeavours.
Postecoglou, who joined Spurs from Celtic on a four-year deal, has now addressed his departure in a personal message that reflects on his tenure and achievements with the North London club.
“When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride,” he said.
“The opportunity to lead one of England’s historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime.”
The Australian tactician notably guided Tottenham to Europa League victory in May, securing the club’s first major trophy in 17 years with a 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao.
“That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream.
We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait seven more years for their next success.”
Ange Postecoglou expressed deep gratitude to those who supported him behind the scenes and praised his players.
“I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club.”
Despite the Europa League glory, Ange Postecoglou’s departure followed Tottenham’s worst-ever Premier League season, where the club finished 17th.
