Apostle Johnson Suleman has issued a scathing rebuke of the Federal Government’s handling of the country’s worsening security situation, urging Nigerians to exercise their constitutional right to self-defense.
Taking to his X handle on Sunday, the outspoken cleric expressed deep frustration over the relentless killings in Benue State and other parts of the country. In his post, he called on the government to acknowledge its failures and allow citizens to protect themselves.
“If the federal government knows it’s overwhelmed or its security architecture has failed, they should be humble enough to tell the citizens,” Suleman wrote.
He emphasized that self-defense is a constitutional right, especially in the face of the government’s inability to safeguard lives and property. “Self-defense is enshrined in the constitution. I said it when I went to Jos and Benue. We can’t watch this to continue.”
In a direct message to residents of Benue State, the Apostle encouraged them not to wait in despair. “People of Benue, defend yourself. What is happening in Benue State is evil, barbaric, and a mayhem,” he declared.
Suleman also lashed out at political leaders for shifting focus to the 2027 general elections while citizens are under attack in 2025. “It’s ridiculous that people are thinking of 2027 whilst mayhem is being unleashed in 2025 on citizens they are supposed to govern. What happened to your humanity?” he questioned.
He concluded with a haunting statement, reflecting the depth of his despair: “There was a country…”
