Reginae Carter Defends Lil Wayne Amid Criticism of ‘Tha Carter VI’

Lil Wayne's Producer Deezle Sues UMG Over Unpaid "The Carter 3" Royalties

Lil Wayne’s newly released album Tha Carter VI may have stirred up disappointment among some fans, but his daughter, Reginae Carter, isn’t letting the backlash slide.

Despite the long anticipation for the latest installment in the iconic Tha Carter series, many listeners took to social media to express their discontent—citing issues with the production, performances, and overall direction of the album.

However, Reginae quickly came to her father’s defense. In a post shared by The Neighborhood Talk on Instagram, she slammed online critics, arguing that much of the negativity stems from internet culture’s obsession with viral criticism rather than genuine musical analysis.

According to her, this trend has created a toxic environment where art is judged by fleeting trends rather than true substance.

“Tha Carter VI is trash? That’s fine, that’s what you want to say,” Reginae Carter began her defense of Lil Wayne. “But let me tell you something about my father and Carter VI. This is what I ate about you kids The fact that y’all can’t get on TikTok and do a little dance for it? That don’t mean that it’s trash, babe. Okay? […] My dad was talking real s**t. It’s stuff on that album that you can hear in 2K, in games, at f***ing malls, at all type of stuff. It’s universal, my love.

“Y’all need to take y’all minds out of the TikTok world and get to the real bag,” she continued. “My dad is a lyricist, babe. My dad really talks s**t. So if you can’t understand it, please move in silence like the ‘G’ in lasagna and get the f**k out of here. Thanks. Now that’s my last time.”

Commercially, though, Tha Carter VI is far from a flop. The album has performed well, proving that Lil Wayne still commands massive attention and loyalty from fans. Like past projects such as Funeral, I Am Not A Human Being, and Rebirth, this latest offering continues the pattern of mixed critical reception paired with commercial triumph.
