Lil Wayne abruptly postponed his Monday night concert in Toronto after falling ill, leaving fans at Budweiser Stage frustrated.
Just minutes before Tyga was set to perform as a supporting act, a message appeared on venue screens announcing the postponement and assuring fans that their tickets would be valid for a rescheduled date.
“Due to unforeseen illness, Wayne’s Toronto show tonight will be postponed,” the statement read.
“As his fans know, he loves putting on nothing short of the best performances for those who come out, and he was so excited for this one. Please stay tuned for the new date coming soon. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced.”
The late notice sparked anger among attendees, with some on Instagram criticizing the timing of the announcement and accusing organizers of keeping fans waiting—and spending—during a heatwave despite knowing the show wouldn’t go on.
The Toronto stop was part of Lil Wayne’s ongoing Tha Carter VI Tour, launched in support of his fourteenth studio album released in June. The project features collaborations with BigXthaPlug, Jay Jones, Jelly Roll, Big Sean, Bono, 2 Chainz, Andrea Bocelli, Wyclef Jean, Mannie Fresh, MGK, and Kodak Black.
The tour kicked off with an album release show at Madison Square Garden in June, resumed July 30 in Virginia, and is set to continue with dates in Detroit, Seattle, Los Angeles, Houston, and other North American cities through October.
