Elijah Blue Allman, the 48-year-old son of music legend Cher, was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Saturday following an overdose incident.
According to TMZ, the incident occurred in Joshua Tree, California, and Elijah was “lucky to have survived.” He is said to be receiving the “best possible care” as of Sunday.
Sources cited by the outlet revealed that Cher is fully focused on “her son’s well-being, and she’s doing everything she can to get him the help he needs.” The exact substances involved in the alleged overdose have not been disclosed.
Elijah, the son of Cher and her late second ex-husband Gregg Allman, has a long-documented history of substance abuse. In a 2014 interview, he admitted to experimenting with drugs from as early as age 11.
In 2023, Cher filed for a temporary sole conservatorship over Elijah’s finances, citing “severe mental health and substance abuse issues.” However, she later dropped the request in September 2024.
Elijah is currently going through a divorce from his estranged wife, Marieangela King, according to court documents obtained by Page Six of The New York Post.
