Best Amakhian, founder of Glitch Studios and owner of the popular Honest Bunch podcast, has opened up about the real reason behind the sudden departure of radio personality and comedian Nedu from the show.
Speaking during a recent session on the podcast, Amakhian disclosed that the team made multiple efforts to persuade Nedu to stay on as co-host following the controversy sparked by allegations of sexual exploitation and fraud made by social media critic VeryDarkMan.
“At the height of the controversy, we recommended that Nedu take a temporary break from the show to address the situation, but he refused,” Amakhian said. “Instead, he chose to walk away from the show entirely.”
Amakhian revealed that he personally reached out to Nedu even after the dust began to settle, hoping for a resolution. However, Nedu stood firm on his decision to quit.
“We’ve known each other for years. I gave him time, thinking we’d eventually have a proper conversation. But when we finally did, he made it clear he was done and wanted us to move on,” he explained.
Best stressed that while the Honest Bunch brand prioritizes integrity and transparency, the team had no choice but to respect Nedu’s decision.
“For a brand that stands for honesty and is viewed across Africa and internationally, we owed our audience clarity. We couldn’t ignore the controversy,” he added.
Co-host Husband Material also weighed in, saying that while Nedu’s exit was unfortunate, everyone is entitled to make personal decisions.
“We’ve worked together for over ten years, but you can’t force anyone to do what they no longer want to do. It was his choice, and we respect that,” he said.
The controversy that led to Nedu’s departure began after VeryDarkMan accused him of serious misconduct, resulting in heavy public backlash.
Despite Best’s efforts to manage the situation and retain Nedu on the podcast, the OAP chose to exit permanently. The podcast has since moved forward by welcoming Daddy Freeze as the new co-host.
