Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has shared a memorable yet somewhat disappointing encounter with fellow actress Iyabo Ojo from the early days of their careers.
In a recently resurfaced podcast interview, Bimbo shared how she met Iyabo Ojo when she was just 19 years old, describing her as a passionate, determined young woman with big dreams of making it in the Nigerian film industry.
“She came to my house. She was very young and I asked, ‘What do you want?’ She said she wanted to act. She was 19 when we met,” Bimbo recalled.

Impressed by Iyabo’s enthusiasm, Bimbo decided to help her break into Nollywood by securing her a lead role in a film—a rare move, considering Bimbo admitted she doesn’t usually beg for roles, even for herself.
“What I like is that she went the extra mile to fulfill her acting dream. However, the story took a dramatic turn,” Bimbo said.
The turning point came when Iyabo Ojo, after landing the lead role, showed up pregnant, a situation that left Bimbo deeply disappointed.
“Iyabo offended me when I got her a lead role. I don’t beg for roles, but I did for her. She was pregnant,” Bimbo added.
Although Bimbo didn’t provide details on how the situation affected the movie production, her tone suggested a sense of betrayal, especially given the personal effort she made to support Iyabo at the time.
