Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Chief Bode George has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, claiming that Nigeria is essentially running without a functional government.
In an interview with The Sun Newspaper, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees and former military governor of Ondo State decried the worsening economic hardship and insecurity, arguing that the current leadership has failed to provide hope for the country’s youth.
“There is no government. I am not afraid to say there is no government,” George said. “Look at the economic indices—the pain and anger. There is no hope, no job, and no money.”
Citing the growing frustration among northern youths, George noted that many of them have now embraced western education, yet face a bleak future.
“You asked them to go to school, they have gone to school, yet they return to the same huts they left. They see a few very wealthy individuals among them and are asking: where is our share of the national wealth? That’s why they’re reacting.”
He added that the widespread unrest in the North is not solely the work of foreign Fulani elements, as often claimed. Still, essentially, the frustrated Nigerian Gen Zs are challenging their leaders.
George concluded by pointing out a shift in the region’s social structure, saying:
“There are no more Almajiris because most of them are now educated. Education makes people easy to govern but impossible to deceive.”
His comments come amid growing dissatisfaction with the Tinubu-led government over rising inflation, unemployment, and the continued devaluation of the naira.
