Renowned televangelist and founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has issued a fiery warning to bloggers and online media platforms, accusing them of twisting his sermons and spreading misinformation.
In a now-viral video circulating on the internet, Pastor Ibiyeomie threatened legal action and arrest against bloggers who share content about him — whether positive or negative — without authorization.
Pastor Ibiyeomie’s Warning:
“Don’t carry my news. I don’t want your news. Whether good or bad, don’t carry it. You won’t make me popular — I’m already speaking to the world,” the outspoken cleric said during a recent church service.
The pastor emphasized that some individuals, allegedly including members of his own church, are being “planted” to record his sermons and misrepresent his messages on social media and gossip blogs.
“Instead of you listening to the message and getting blessed, you now pick one thing and twist it — say what I didn’t say,” he added.
Threats of Arrest and Legal Consequences
Pastor Ibiyeomie didn’t mince words when addressing his intentions to take drastic action against offenders:
“I will arrest you. I will lock you up. I don’t care. No man of God will pray for you and succeed. My gospel is before you slap, I slap you. I am not that kind of pastor. Young man, I will fight you.”
He also called out a specific unnamed individual, hinting that even personal connections would not deter him from taking legal measures:
“I know your father. Your father won’t beg me. Your mother won’t beg me. I will deal with you.”
A Divisive Stand
While some members of the public have backed Ibiyeomie’s tough stance against false reporting and character defamation, critics argue that freedom of speech and press must be respected, especially regarding public sermons delivered in a church setting.
This isn’t the first time the Port Harcourt-based preacher has sparked controversy with his outspoken nature. He remains one of Nigeria’s most influential and vocal pastors, often trending for his unconventional takes and unfiltered rebukes.
The Bottom Line:
As tensions escalate between public figures and digital media creators, Pastor Ibiyeomie’s recent outburst highlights the growing friction between religious leadership and online journalism, particularly in terms of content control and public narrative.
For bloggers and online commentators, the message is clear: tread carefully when reporting on Salvation Ministries or its founder, or face legal consequences.
“Don't carry any news about me or my church. If not, I'll arrest and lock you up.”
