Billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has intensified his public feud with U.S. President Donald Trump, openly calling for Trump’s impeachment and endorsing Vice President J.D. Vance as his successor.
The dramatic escalation came in response to a post by political commentator Ian Miles Cheong on social media platform X, which read:
“President vs Elon. Who wins? My money’s on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him.”
Elon Musk’s brief but pointed reply — “Yes” — signaled clear agreement, drawing attention across political and tech spheres.
This public call follows Musk’s recent criticism of Trump’s economic agenda, particularly his proposed tariff policies, which Musk warned would have devastating consequences.
“The Trump tariffs will cause a recession in the second half of this year,” Musk posted on X.
Tensions further escalated after Musk made a shocking allegation that President Trump is “in the Epstein files,” a claim that fueled widespread speculation online. In apparent retaliation, Trump reportedly threatened to revoke Musk’s government contracts, accused him of being “CRAZY,” and claimed credit for driving him out of Washington’s political circles.
In response, Elon Musk has allegedly considered pulling SpaceX’s collaboration with NASA, which includes vital missions to the International Space Station.
The fallout has attracted fierce reactions from Trump’s allies as well. Steve Bannon, a key Trump confidant, has gone so far as to call for Elon Musk’s deportation, citing his South African origins.
As the rift between two of America’s most high-profile figures deepens, the implications for politics, business, and space exploration remain significant.
