Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, revealed that he turned down a lucrative transfer to Saudi Arabia after discussing the decision with his manager Ruben Amorim and his wife.
Al Hilal reportedly offered nearly triple his current weekly wage of £250,000 and were willing to pay United £100m for the Portugal midfielder.
Fernandes admitted to having conversations about the move but ultimately rejected it because he did not want to move to Saudi Arabia at this point in his career.
“I spoke with Ruben Amorim, who really tried to talk me out of it. I spoke to the club, who said they weren’t willing to sell me, only if I wanted to leave.
“I had to make the decision as a family and understand what I wanted for my future. That was the question my wife asked, what my professional goals would be,” Fernandes said.
