“I changed the key” – Tiwa Savage Reveals How Pregnancy Affected Her Vocal Range During ‘R.E.D’ Album Recording

Tiwa Savage Flaunts Her Stunning Beauty in New Photos

Nigerian award-winning singer Tiwa Savage has opened up about how pregnancy impacted her voice and the recording process during the creation of her ‘R.E.D’ album.

In a recent interview, the songstress revealed that being pregnant at the time posed unique challenges to her vocal abilities, forcing her to adjust the music production process.

“I was pregnant when I recorded ‘R.E.D’. I would be in the studio crying with my big belly. It was a struggle to record the album,” Tiwa recounted.

She disclosed that some of the album’s songs had to be re-keyed because pregnancy affected her ability to hit certain high notes.

“I changed the key of some of the songs in the album because being pregnant affected how I could hit some notes,” she said.

Tiwa, who was the first female artist to have a baby while signed to Mavin Records, also shared how Don Jazzy and the label’s crew supported her through the experience.

“Whenever they noticed my energy going down, Jazzy would tell them to get me my cravings, which were eggs and bread,” she added with a smile.

Tiwa Savage signed with Mavin Records in 2012 and remained with the label until 2019, when she exited to join Universal Music Group.
