It looks like Jack Grealish’s time at Manchester City could be coming to an unexpected end.
Reports from The Sun suggest the English winger is on Newcastle United’s radar, with the Magpies exploring a loan move for the 29-year-old ahead of the new season.
Grealish endured a tough 2024/25 campaign at City, managing just one goal and one assist in the Premier League. His omission from the squad in City’s FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace further hinted at his declining role in Pep Guardiola’s plans.
Now, with Champions League football on offer at St. James’ Park, Newcastle see an opportunity to revive the former Aston Villa captain’s form. However, any deal would likely be temporary, as the Magpies are reportedly hesitant to take on Grealish’s £300,000-a-week wages or buy out the two years remaining on his current deal with City.
For a loan move to happen, Manchester City would need to cover a significant portion of his salary — a condition that may complicate negotiations.
Interestingly, Grealish is also expected to miss out on City’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup in the U.S., further fueling speculation that a summer exit is on the cards.
With Anthony Gordon’s future at Newcastle still uncertain, the club could view Grealish as a potential replacement to add quality and depth on the flanks.
