Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly turned down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal, despite a massive financial package and a transfer deal already in place with his current club, Napoli.
CREEBHILLS reports that transfer insider Ben Jacobs had stated that , the Saudi club had agreed on a €75 million transfer fee with Napoli and had lined up a staggering €40 million-per-season salary for the Nigerian forward.
All seemed set — even travel and medicals had reportedly been scheduled to finalize the deal ahead of the upcoming Club World Cup — until Osimhen said no.
“BREAKING: Victor Osimhen has turned down Al-Hilal,” Jacobs wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Travel and medical were scheduled to complete the deal in time for the Club World Cup. And a €75m package in place with Napoli. However, Osimhen has formally rejected Hilal’s offer.”
The 27-year-old’s decision underscores his apparent desire to remain in European football, where he has become one of the most sought-after strikers in recent seasons following his breakout performances for Napoli.
Osimhen has long been linked with clubs in the Premier League and other top European leagues, and fans believe his ambition is to compete at the highest level rather than cash in early.
While Saudi clubs continue to make headlines with eye-watering offers, his rejection is a reminder that not every player is swayed by money alone — legacy and competition still matter.
