Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Anthony Ebuka Victor, popularly known as Victony, has opened up about the emotional toll of his past struggles, revealing that the challenges he faced in recent years robbed him of his youth.
The rising star made the revelation in a heartfelt post on his X handle, writing, “My troubles stole my youth.”
Victony’s reflection comes in the aftermath of a traumatic 2021 car accident that claimed one life and left three others injured. He was confined to a wheelchair for nearly a year as a result of the incident. Despite the setback, Victony rose to prominence with the release of Holy Father, his hit collaboration with Mayorkun, which became a turning point in his career.
In a separate post, the singer revealed a personal milestone in his journey toward healing and growth. “3 months sober, Glory.” he wrote, highlighting his ongoing efforts to maintain sobriety.
Victony recently shared that he had never performed on stage without consuming alcohol, but he is now working to change that as part of his Stubborn tour. The singer said he wants to fully connect with his fans and experience performances in a more authentic and unfiltered way.
His revelations have struck a chord with many, adding a layer of vulnerability and inspiration to his musical journey.
