“Nigerians’ Pain Will Soon End” – Tinubu Assures Amid Rising Hardship

President Tinubu has assured citizens that the current economic hardship and suffering they are experiencing will soon subside.

This was made known by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday.

Idris highlighted some of the steps taken by the Tinubu administration, including over 900,000 beneficiaries of the presidential loan and grant scheme, 300,000 students enrolled in the student loan programme, and the clearing of over ₦10 billion in foreign exchange debt.

Despite these interventions, Nigerians continue to face rising hunger, inflation, and hardship, with the country reportedly sliding further into debt.

When asked about when government policies will begin to reflect positively on the lives of everyday Nigerians, the minister responded, “The pain will end soon. Already, it’s beginning to subside a bit.

“I mean, you saw that if you compare food prices now to where they were a year ago. I mean, you know how much you buy a bag of rice.”

He acknowledged that the country isn’t where it needs to be yet, but emphasized that progress is being made: “We are not saying that we are there yet, but we are saying there is a steady progression towards the destination, the prosperity that Mr president has promised Nigerians.

“It’s not something that will happen overnight. But even the rating agencies are saying, look, the indices are looking good for Nigeria. Everyone is seeing that.”

While cautioning against unrealistic expectations, Idris maintained hope: “I’m not going to sit here to say that our problems are over, but what I can say is that there is a gradual journey towards the prosperity that Mr president has promised.”
