Pep Guardiola Appoints Bernardo Silva as Manchester City Captain

David Silva

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has named Bernardo Silva as the club’s new captain ahead of the upcoming season.

According to the Daily Mail, Guardiola made the decision himself, foregoing the usual team vote in selecting the skipper.

Silva succeeds Kevin De Bruyne, who recently departed the club following the expiration of his contract.

To support the leadership transition, Guardiola also announced three vice-captains: Ruben Dias, Rodri, and Erling Haaland.

While Silva now wears the captain’s armband, his future at the Etihad remains uncertain as his current contract is set to expire next summer. Despite this, the Portuguese midfielder has turned down multiple transfer offers in recent windows, including interest from Saudi Arabian clubs and a potential return to his former side, Benfica.
