President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hosted Queen Mary Elizabeth of Denmark at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday during a high-level diplomatic courtesy visit.
The European monarch was warmly received at the President’s official residence by President Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, marking a significant moment in Nigeria–Denmark relations.
The closed-door meeting is expected to deepen bilateral cooperation between both nations, although details of the discussions remain undisclosed as of press time.
In attendance were key Nigerian officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu.
Queen Mary was accompanied by the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Jens Ole Bach Hansen, highlighting the importance of the diplomatic exchange.
The visit underscores Denmark’s growing interest in strengthening ties with Nigeria across various areas, including climate change, trade, maritime security, and sustainable development.
