Former Governor of Kano State and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has strongly condemned the killing of at least 12 wedding guests in Plateau State.
The victims, all from the Basawa community in Zaria, Kaduna State, were ambushed and murdered in the Mangu Local Government Area while returning from a wedding on Saturday.
Describing the incident as a “barbaric mob action,” Kwankwaso, in a statement via his X handle on Sunday, expressed deep sorrow over the attack, urging both the Plateau State Government and the Federal Government to apprehend and prosecute those responsible swiftly.
“This is another sad episode of peaceful travelers losing their lives in the hands of violent elements along transit routes,” Kwankwaso lamented.
He called on religious, traditional, and government leaders to intensify efforts in educating the public to shun mob violence.
Kwankwaso also extended condolences to victims of the Kano explosion, which claimed five lives on Saturday at a scrap collection site along the Eastern Bypass.
“May the Almighty Allah grant them eternal rest,” he prayed
