Nollywood star Regina Daniels has come to the defense of her close friend and veteran actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie, calling out Angela Okorie for her controversial remarks about forgiving Mercy due to an alleged illness.
Angela Okorie, during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday, announced that she had chosen to forgive Mercy Johnson after hearing troubling reports about the actress’s health.
“I’ve chosen to forgive Mercy Johnson because I heard she’s seriously unwell. She needs to seek forgiveness from those she’s wronged and stop using religious phrases that don’t reflect her true self,” Angela said.
Angela also criticized Mercy for what she described as hypocrisy, alleging that the actress hides behind religious language while maintaining strained relationships with people she may have wronged in the past.
Regina Daniels Reacts
In a fiery response posted on her Instagram Story, Regina Daniels didn’t hold back, slamming Angela Okorie for what she described as a disrespectful and insincere gesture.
“I’m sorry and with all due respect, aunty Angela you dey mad! Abeg no forgive because for this side, we no dey forgive. Continue and whilst at it, no forget say she get pikin wey gidigba. No dey shalaye!!!” Regina wrote.
Regina, who has publicly shown support for Mercy Johnson over the years, made it clear that she found Angela’s so-called forgiveness both offensive and unnecessary.
Longstanding Feud Between Angela and Mercy
Angela Okorie’s issues with Mercy Johnson date back several years but escalated significantly in 2024, when Angela accused Mercy and her late mother of witchcraft. The feud intensified when Angela featured a woman claiming to be Mercy’s former best friend, who backed up the disturbing allegations.
Angela also previously made a disturbing comment about Mercy’s physical appearance, saying:
“She don lose weight because she no get blood to drink again,”
—a statement widely interpreted as a veiled accusation of ritualistic practices.
Mercy Johnson Remains Silent
Despite the serious nature of the accusations, Mercy Johnson has largely remained silent, choosing instead to focus on her family and acting career. She has not responded to Angela’s recent claims or Regina Daniels’ fierce reaction.
As of the time of this report, Mercy has made no public comment on either Angela Okorie’s “forgiveness” or Regina’s defense.
