Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has issued a firm ban on photography, video recording, and any form of political or sectarian expression at key Hajj sites.
The ministry explained that the measure is aimed at preserving the spiritual and peaceful atmosphere of the pilgrimage.
It warned that violators of the new rule would face serious consequences.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the ministry made it clear that pilgrims are prohibited from taking photos or recording videos within the two holy mosques—Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah.
The restriction also applies to other significant Hajj sites, including Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.
The statement reminded all pilgrims that the period is a period dedicated to worship, humility, and unity.
“Any conduct that goes against these values will not be accepted. Pilgrims are strongly encouraged to adhere to the regulations and cooperate fully with authorities to ensure that Hajj 2025 is conducted in a peaceful, orderly, and spiritually enriching environment,” the statement added.
To ensure compliance, security personnel will be stationed throughout the duration of the pilgrimage.
