Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu never liked him, even when both were key figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
El-Rufai made this revelation during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday. In a candid exchange, the former governor said his political loyalty was always to former President Muhammadu Buhari, not Tinubu.
“Bola Tinubu never really liked me, but we never really got along. In the party, I was Buhari’s boy,” El-Rufai said.
“The person I got along with was Baba Akande,” he added, referring to Bisi Akande, former Osun governor and APC chieftain.
El-Rufai, who served as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under President Olusegun Obasanjo, also expressed doubts about the independence of the current INEC led by Professor Mahmoud Yakubu.
He noted that unlike Attahiru Jega, under whose leadership the APC was registered as a political party, Yakubu may not have the will to approve a new coalition political party.
“I don’t believe INEC under Mahmoud Yakubu will register a new coalition political party,” he said.
