Trump Says He Could Forgive Elon Musk Despite Recent Criticisms

Donald Trump Approves Travel Ban on Citizens from 12 Countries, Effective June 9, 2025

U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated he is open to forgiving tech billionaire Elon Musk, despite Musk’s recent harsh remarks directed at him on social media.

Speaking on the “Pod Force One” podcast with The New York Post’s Miranda Devine in an interview released on Wednesday, Trump acknowledged the strain in their relationship but left room for reconciliation.

“I guess I could [forgive him],” Trump said. “We have to straighten out the country. And my sole function now is getting this country back to a level higher than it’s ever been.”

This comes just hours after Musk publicly expressed regret over some of his comments about the president.

“They went too far,” Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter), referring to his earlier criticisms of Trump.

The feud between the two influential figures escalated after Musk resigned from his White House advisory role, where he led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — an agency created under Trump’s administration to reduce federal waste and fraud.

Musk had harshly criticized the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a tax and spending package central to Trump’s domestic policy, calling it “pork-filled” and an “abomination.”

He further accused Trump of being ungrateful, claiming that the president’s narrow 2024 election victory was a result of his own actions.

Musk also made controversial allegations linking Trump to the Jeffrey Epstein files, blaming the Department of Justice for delaying their full release — a claim the White House has firmly denied.

Tensions rose further when Trump reportedly threatened to terminate federal contracts awarded to Musk’s companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.

Despite these disputes, Trump’s latest remarks suggest that he is willing to set aside their differences in the interest of national progress.
