Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recently recounted a frightening in-flight scare that left many Nigerians concerned for his safety. The incident unfolded during his planned trip from Port Harcourt to Lagos.
In a candid video, Wike detailed how his wife had earlier flown to Lagos to pick up their daughter, landing safely at the Air Force Base. Wanting to meet someone important in Lagos, Wike boarded a separate flight from Port Harcourt.
However, just 15 minutes after takeoff, the mood shifted dramatically.
“My wife went to Lagos to bring my daughter; they landed at the Air Force Base. I said, let me also fly to Lagos. Fifteen minutes after takeoff, the air hostess was running. I asked what the problem was, and she came back and told us one engine is gone,” Wike explained.
Fortunately, the pilot skillfully handled the situation, diverting the aircraft and landing safely back in Port Harcourt. No casualties or injuries were reported.
