Veteran media personality Yeni Kuti and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Segun Sowunmi, exchanged heated words during a recent episode of TVC’s “Your View” programme.
The altercation stemmed from Sowunmi’s controversial visit to President Bola Tinubu’s residence in Lagos, which drew widespread criticism, given his previous hardline stance against Tinubu’s administration.
While discussing the issue, Yeni Kuti directly questioned Sowunmi:
“You’ve had a lot of criticism for the president, now your tune seems to have changed after your visit. So when is your own move? When are you leaving the PDP to join APC?”
An irritated Sowunmi responded sharply:
“Although I cannot see who is asking those questions, I didn’t come to your programme so you can try to be cheeky with me. Stop that.”
Unfazed, Yeni Kuti, 64, fired back:
“I can’t be cheeky with you because I’m sure that I’m older than you.”
In a swift attempt to de-escalate the tension, Sowunmi replied:
“Oh sister oo! My Aunty! I take that back. Please don’t be angry.”
But Kuti was not done, firmly stating:
“I’m not your aunty.”
The exchange has since gone viral on social media, sparking debates over political loyalty and media decorum.
