Veteran Nigerian singer Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia has opened up about his recent divorce from actress Annie Idibia and his new relationship with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.
In a candid interview on the 234 Mzansi podcast, hosted by radio personality Nedu Wazobia, 2Baba offered rare insight into his personal life. He explained that his decision to leave Annie was not driven by drama or infidelity but by emotional disconnect.
“Annie and I gave it our best. She’s amazing and wonderful, but it just wasn’t working anymore. What we once had is no longer there,” he said.
“Natasha is My Peace”
The 49-year-old music icon emphasized that his connection with Natasha Osawaru is based on emotional compatibility, not physical appearance.
“I’m not particular about a woman’s physical appearance, though it’s a plus. What matters is someone I can talk to without fear, someone who won’t get angry unnecessarily, someone I can laugh with,” he said.
“If Natasha didn’t have all these qualities, we wouldn’t be together. If any woman disrespects me or does rubbish, I will walk away from her.”
2Baba’s calm and respectful tone while discussing both women in his life was notable. He described Annie and the mothers of his children as “amazing people,” but insisted the end of his marriage was a mutual, necessary decision.
“Don’t Stay Married Just to Please Society”
The African Queen hitmaker aimed at societal expectations around marriage, urging couples not to suffer in silence or remain in unhappy unions out of fear of public judgment.
“Many people have gone to their graves living in bondage. Many couples are struggling, but they stay because they are afraid of what society will say,” he warned.
“If a marriage is not working, try to fix it. But if it still doesn’t work, no one should be forced to stay. Only the people inside the marriage know what they’re going through.”
On Monogamy: “It’s Not a Man’s Nature”
In one of the more controversial moments of the interview, 2Baba reiterated a view he has expressed before — that monogamy is not natural for men, at least sexually.
“A man’s heart, respect, and love can belong to one woman. But sexually, it’s difficult. A man can genuinely love a woman completely but still struggle to be with only her. That’s biology.”
While acknowledging that some may live differently, 2Baba stood firm in his belief that a man’s nature is not wired for sexual exclusivity.
“Some individuals may choose to live differently, but I’m talking about biology. A man has many seeds and can’t just drop them for one woman.”
2Baba’s honesty has once again sparked fresh debate across social media on marriage, fidelity, and masculinity.
Although his views may be controversial, he emphasized that his priorities are peace of mind, emotional honesty, and mutual respect — values he says now define his life with Natasha Osawaru.
