A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has raised concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s leadership circle, alleging that the president is being misled by sycophants who are not presenting him with the true state of the nation or the party.
Garba asserted during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, July 22, warning that the growing disconnect between leadership and the people could cost the party dearly in future elections.
“They (ADC coalition) hope for our loss, and that is why we need to be serious,” Garba said.
“That is the more reason why we need to be very sincere with ourselves and make sure that the leadership of the party is somebody that is truthful and capable of listening to criticisms and accepting the facts without any flattery, without any sycophancy.”
He emphasized that President Tinubu may be getting a distorted view of the nation’s challenges due to a circle of aides and associates feeding him flattering reports rather than hard truths.
“I believe there are a lot of sycophants around the president; people are telling him that things are okay—things are not okay,” he added.
Garba’s comments come amid rising public discontent over economic hardship, insecurity, and political tensions. His statement appears to echo broader concerns within and outside the APC about the administration’s ability to stay connected to grassroots realities.
As the 2027 elections slowly inch closer, Garba’s warning adds to the growing calls for introspection and genuine reform within the ruling party.
